  • SDJ's SMART Board Lessons This comprehensive site was created and is maintained by Beth Clarke, one of SDJ's leading SMART Technologies instructors. It includes a number of links to other SMART Board lesson databases and some lessons that have been created or modified and shared by other SDJ teachers.

  • Don't be afraid to simply do a Google search for your skill topic and include the words smartboard acivities.

Reading and Math:

  • EngageNY - In order to assist schools and districts with the implementation of the Common Core, NYSED has provided curriculum modules and units in P-12 ELA and math that can be adopted or adapted for local purposes.


  • Reading Rockets - Reading Rockets is a national multimedia literacy initiative offering information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how caring adults can help.
  • ReadWorksReadWorks is a free service that has cataloged hundreds of lesson plans and more than one thousand non-fiction reading passages aligned to Common Core standards (K-6). With a free ReadWorks account you can search for lessons and reading passages by grade and skill. In your account you can create digital binders of the lesson plans and reading passages that you want to use. 

  • Teaching Books- Common Core Section

    • Breaks down resources and book lists by grade level and Standard
    • Identifies exceptional and relevant books for your classroom
    • Provides ready-to-use instructional materials for each text to expose your students to a range of text types, formats, cultural perspectives, and authoritative information as suggested by the Common Core Standards.

  • Florida Center for Reading Research - Includes a number of classroom activities developed by teachers at FCRR for use in kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms and pedagogical information for empowering teachers with the skills and knowledge for effective instruction in the classroom.
  • K12 Reader - Reading instruction resources for teachers and parents.

    This site is a curation site maintained by Innovative Learning Specialist, Nicole Andresen. She teaches the Web 2.0 classes in the district and is our resident expert in finding and applying the latest web tools. She has graciously opened up her site to all of SDJ. Thanks Nicole!
